About the maker

Hi! I’m Madison and I am the artist behind Fresh Fish!

I started working with ceramics at around 15 years old when I took a throwing class in highschool. I was instantly hooked and spent the next 10 years making pottery anytime I had the opportunity. Fresh Fish started in late 2019 when I bought my own wheel and set up a studio in the basement of my duplex apartment. Most of my pieces are thrown on the wheel (I use and swear by Shimpo Wheels!) and are hand painted using Amaco Underglazes. Some pieces are particularly detailed and each piece can take up 10+ hours to paint!

By day, I work as the Assistant Director of Discovery Space, a science center and makerspace located in State College, Pennsylvania. When I am not at work or making pottery, you can probably find me hanging out with my husband, Evan, and our three cats: Tuna, Juno, and Dink.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
